I was very ill yesterday, a 24 hour food poisoning or something, whatever the case, I won't be eating at Olive Garden for a long time. During the morning-of-hell, my sister came to take care of me. She could take the pain, nausea and aching away, but she did hold me and care for my needs as I went through it. As I as rolling back and forth in her arms in pain and discomfort, I heard a still small voice speak a lesson to me. This is what Jesus does at times, this explains the times when I ask for help, make it though, but with alot of pain. When we call on Jesus, it's mostly to ask for relief like when we go to the doctor. Rightly so, just in case He might, it's good to ask that. Many times though, He is there with us as we walk through the valley, stand in the flames of purification or just go through the pain of what sin has done. The difference between my sister holding me and Jesus holding me, is that my sister does not have the power to take my burden away, but Jesus does. So it's almost offensive to us that Jesus would hold us and not take our burden when he can snap His fingers and it all goes away. Trust and relationship makes the difference. Do we call upon Jesus as we do a doctor, or is His presence comforting like a sister? Don't be offended at God's way of helping us when we ask, even if it's within His power to remove pain we must trust Him.
