Spiritual Excitment: Luke 24:27 ”And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the scriptures concerning Himself.” Jesus is on the road to Emmaus and concealing his identity from his ‘walking buddies’. Could they have comprehended all these important things if they saw Him as He was? Or was it necessary to shield from excitement before they truly understood the “Word”? Is it the same with us? We want to see the exciting things of God, to be convinced and know He is with us, but our faith and belief have to established on God’s Word first! Then His miracles make sense spiritually. We cannot rely on excitement, it is still within reach of Satan. Just as excitement from lust outside of marriage gives a false expectation in marriage because it isn’t grounded in deeper love, so does seeking spiritual excitement to stand on in an ongoing relationship with Christ keep us disappointed. Let God get you excited about things His way, He would love for us to be as excited to carry out His commands as the angels all the time! But carnally we can’t yet. Ground yourself in God’s word, then get excited when you see Him because it reminds you of something in His word.
